JOIN THE SHORT&SWEET REVOLUTION
SHORT&SWEET is an awesome dedicated platform for short film makers and film enthusiasts alike. This movement started in London in 2005 and from then it has reached 8 countries around the world. From the coast of Cape Town, the hip Toronto to – since the end of 2014 – our very own Amsterdam. Starting the 14th of July, SHORT&SWEET will be hosting evening film screenings and gatherings for a 5weeks long season!
SHORT&SWEET takes place once a week and screens a different selection of 8 short films, animations and music videos from around the world which are between 2 to 15 minutes. S&S is seeking for venues to host their incredible experimental cinema concepts and it takes seriously its commitment to promising an alternative, intellectual and above all stimulating experience to its audience. But what’s the concept behind this amazing idea?
Short films can provide a great platform of interaction and idea exchange, as it promotes a sense of assembly just like in the old times. It’s not just about going to the movies to be distracted for an hour or so by watching the newest technology of 3D that Hollywood provides us. It’s about watching, breathing and living art, and sharing an unforgettable experience and challenging one owns ideas and preconceptions. As S&S motto goes, it’s all about:
Encouraging the artist within by sharing a medium that educates, inspires and empowers.
What is so refreshing and cool about S&S is its innovative way of providing an international platform that showcases and promotes short films along with the talent behind them. It takes cinema out of the theatre and into the streets continuously renewing the cinematic experience and challenging predefined concepts.
So what better way to watch great films from around the world than to join a sweet crowd, nice setting and cool music?
This wonderful event will take place in Amsterdam starting July14 at 7:30pm at Roest Amsterdam.
