Melancholia

Next month the prestigious international film festival in Cannes starts, during which nineteen films are competing for this years golden Palm/ Palm d’Or. One of the promising candidates this year is Melancholia, a film by the controversial director Lars Von Trier. The director is famous for his dogma film Idiots, Dogville and Antichrist.

The film is about two sisters Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) who have a complicated relationship. The relationship is even more challenged by the threat of another planet collapsing with the earth. Von Trier calls Melancholia a psychological disaster movie. We think of it as a must see, judging the plot and beautiful trailer.

The film will premiere at Cannes and enters theaters around May 26 in Denmark.
