After it’s worldpremière on the Locarno filmfestival, the Dutch film ‘ONDER ONS’—Amongst Us—will have it’s North-American première at the 36th edition of the prestigious Toronto International Filmfestival. The film will be shown during the Discovery program. This feauture film debut from director Marco van Geffen which was filmed after a scenario of Jolein Laarman won two awards in Locarno.

‘ONDER ONS’ is about an introverted Polish au pair Ewa who finds it difficult to settle with her hosts in a Dutch provincial city. When she assumes to have found out the identity of the rapist who bring restlessnes in their neigbourhood she gets caught up into a spiral of doubt and isolation. The role of Ewa is a performance of the young Polish actrice Dagmara Bak. Other characters are played by Golden Kalf winner Rifka Lodeizen, Guy Clemens, Reinout Bussemaker and the Polish actrice Natalia Rybicka.

The Toronto International Filmfestival takes place
from September 8 until the 18th.
