The making of a 50,000 dollar Leica

Recently Leica has released a limited edition which celebrates the friendship and collaboration between Jean-Louis Dumas, the former president of Hermès, who died in May 2010, and Leica Camera AG.er.

The Leica M9-P Edition Hermès is made in two variaties; 300 ‘regular’ Hermès  M9’s and a 100 even more exclusive camera’s, the Serie Limitee Jean-Louis Dumas. The latter costs $50k, the former $25k. The regular version is trimmed with calfs leather and silver chrome, and comes with a Leica Summilux-M 50 mm-lens.

The $50k version comes with Leica Summicron-M 28 mm, a Leica Noctilux-M 50,  and a Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm-lens. These are all finished with adonised silver and come with an Hermès bag and book.

Now that’s what I call proper craftmanship!
