White tent: edge & sustainable
Written by Niem Tewarie
When it comes to new and refreshing labels, White Tent is definitely a brand to keep an eye on. The brand was established by Evgenia Tabakova from Russian and Pedro Noronha-Feio from Portuguese descent in 2007. They have graduated from Central Saint Martin’s and the London College of Fashion respectively and after that started the brand together.
The name White Tent was carefully chosen according to the designers: “It epitomized the idea of a nomadic lifestyle, an idea that our brand can work from anywhere. White Tent is designed by two designers from different parts of the world, and the idea of a tent that one picks up and sets it up anywhere really appealed to us.”
The distinctive character of White Tent, apart of the design signature itself, is formed by the usage of edgy laser cutout techniques and innovative materials. As the designers have a strong believe in social responsibility, they created White tent as a sustainable ecologic brand. This makes the brand even more relevant nowadays.
Evgenia and Pedro also gave us their view on the AW12 collection: “The idea behind the AW12 collection is simple, unpretentious pieces with surprising details. We let the fabrics to highlight the simplicity of design – we used bronze and dark blue taffetas, cashmere-mix and textured jerseys, which played well with the concept of modern simplicity.”
The brand is based in Lisbon, Portugal and London, UK.
