MARCO DAPINO

Written by Margherita Visentini

Lights, colors and a ghost city, Milan: everything directed by Marco Dapino, a young Milanese photographer. And that is exactly what makes up his city, “an elegant lady” as he likes to define it; the subject of his three recent series of works, Light on rails, Airport signs and Suburban streets. The city is the subject, no one else, the human presence is perceived only through traces, movements, memories, leaving space, and time, to the iconography of the airport runway area, or the empty places of stations.

His deep interest in architecture and urbanism transports Dapino in an abstract world, made of graphic signs: not only the traffic ones, but the drawings designed by lights and washes that can’t fade away in Dapino’s photos, permanently fixed in his shots. A personal narration of the urban/suburban landscape, and the crossing points that no one stops to watch.

Marco Dapino lives and works in Milan. More information at Marco Dapino and RBcontemporary.
