300 DOLLAR CACTUS
Objects D’Art is an extension of the CFDA Swarsovski Award for Emerging Talent; where the 9 nominees are asked to create a special limited edition object with of course Swarsovski crystals. The people behind Swarovski must have thought it was a great idea to capitalize on Damien Hirsts diamond incrusted skull and potentially create a cabinet of Swarovski curiosities. Well, you can see the result below, but the only winners really in the game are Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of fashion brand Suno. They must have sat at their desk on a Monday morning gazing out of the window wondering what the hell they should do with this assignment – until they noticed that 5 year old cactus in the windowpane. The rest is history. Just genius – it was sold within seconds for $ 300,- and the cactus is still alive! Seeing the rest of the creations it’s obvious that Suno should take that Swarovski award home on June 3rd.
Todd Snyder’s New Balance sneakers (advertorial) with Swarovski Crystal Rocks.
Tim Coppens’s crystallized Ducati Formula-1 racing helmet (skull or helmet, what’s the difference?)
Dao-Yi Chow & Maxwell Osborne of Public School’s crystalized BMX bicycle.
The arrows with jet of Pamela Love.

Carly Cushnie & Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs’s crystalized kitchen knife set.
Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters of Creatures of the Wind incrusted Betty Page like pin-up pinned with colored crystals.
Irene Neuwirth’s Canal-street-ipad-cover incrusted with what looks like an old english sheepdog wearing a necklace and a tiara (her inspiration).
