Photography power couple Inez & Vinoodh Matadin recently teamed up with Ben Gorman of Stockholm-based fragrance house Byredo. The unisex scent is inspired by an image the duo shot back in 1996, entitled “Kirsten 1996”. Gorman used the image as a departure of juxtapositions visible within the portrait, a young somewhat genderless child with flaming red lips, porcelain skin and shadowy lighting – creating a dark mysterious but stark atmosphere. This is then translated in the scent using contrasting notes of juniper berry, heart of creamy orris and soft violet, finished with hints amber, leather and patchouli.
