Embroidery x Architecture

Chilean artist María Aparicio Puentes mixes monochrome architecture with colourful embroidery. Born in 1981 in Santiago, Chile she developed a particular sensibility towards visual arts from early age on. Studying architecture was a logical step for her. In April 2011 she embroidered her first pictures. Her creative process starts by selecting pictures on Flickr, then contacting their authors for permission to use and add to their pictures. She then scans them in black and white and pierces them. After that she chooses the threads and starts to embroider, highlighting implicit space relations in an intuitive way.
