7 Days of Garbage
Ever thought about how much waste you produce and what its contents might say about you? Californian photographer Gregg Segal’s ongoing project ‘7 Days of Garbage’ gets households to come to terms with a week’s worth of their own waste. Segal chooses families from different social backgrounds and it’s striking how the garbage adds to our understanding of the families’ personality, while reminding ourselves of the massive amount of waste we consume and discard on a daily basis.
“Obviously, the series is guiding people toward a confrontation with the excess that’s part of their lives. I’m hoping they recognise a lot of the garbage they produce is unnecessary” – Gregg Segal
