JUMP IN! GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR INNER CHILD
Ever reminisced about your childhood and felt like you wanted to relive those joyous moments of play and pure emotions, even just for half an hour? Well, now you have the opportunity to do so. Nothing says “childhood” quite like roaming around in a colourful ball pit with your closest friends, right?
The creative agency Pearlfisher has created a viral art installation called JumpIn! that was inspired by the joy of play. They have designed an all-white ball pit for adults, open to every enthusiast who wants to get in touch with their inner child. The installation originates from the agency’s London office. Following its success, those 81,000 white plastic balls have now been shipped to the states.
Pearlfisher’s site says: “Snow is renowned for encouraging play in us all and so, inspired by playful snowy scenes, the JUMP IN! art installation invited visitors to play in a pool of 81,000 white balls. The result was a highly immersive, creative experience that promoted a sense of togetherness and seasonal creative joy.”
JumpIn! is open at Pearlfisher’s New York office at 455 Broadway and is free to all visitors. If you’d like, you can leave a 5 dollar donation for charity. Reservations can be made online for 30 minutes at a time, which is the optimal amount of time to unwind and have a blast. And of course, you can bring your friends along. 15 zealous adults are allowed in the ball pit all at once, so be sure to only invite your besties. There are just a couple of restrictions that apply. If you are older than 10, you are good to go. “No surfing” and “no dangerous substances” stand on a pool sign next to the pit. Also, accessories, glasses and other loose items are best put away before diving into the depth filled with white plastic balls.
The installation is open from August 21 to September 18, from Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood with nothing planned for the day, it’s a good way to relieve all that built-up stress. So get ready to dive in and receive a positive charge.
